Tatiana Vásquez, the first leader of Energy from Women in a Latin American country - Colombia

The more Energy from Women grows, the more visibility for women in energy!

Energy from Women is pleased to announce that Tatiana Vásquez, an Electrical Engineer with a master’s degree in Photovoltaic Solar Energy, assumes the challenge of spreading awareness about women's participation in the energy sector in her country of origin, Colombia.

Tatiana is the first national leader of Energy from Women; she has opened the doors from Colombia.

Tatiana trusted Energy from Women for the very beginning, allowing us to share her inspiring story, the story of a woman who brings electricity for those living in the last mile. This trust has become a strong commitment to giving voice to her colleagues in the energy sector and to give voice to those women from the most remote rural territories, where possibilities for development are scarce.

Tatiana is not only a committed professional for the off-grid solar sector but also a generous individual that recognizes that “women supporting women” is the rule that society must follow to build a fair and inclusive energy transition.

What does she say about her starting leadership in Colombia?

“Energy From Women is an opportunity to show the talent, knowledge, and charisma of women in any place of the world. Their dedication and heart in different areas contribute to building a better society, in this sense, when you join heart and mind, you gain strength and conscience. With this initiative, we can stand out the different roles of the women in the energy sector of Colombia and can build a network to allow women's participation to be strengthened through projects, stories, and articles. According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE - acronym in Spanish), in Colombia, during the last decade, the gap between male and female occupation has been 22.6%, being the male rate superior. So, the challenge is enormous, and only by joint efforts and ideas, we can inspire other women and, little by little, contribute to achieving the SDG5.”

Andrea Eras Almeida, founder of Energy from Women adds: “Tatiana has excellent leadership skills, we are honored that this initiative is being pushed by a professional like her. This is just starting, and we are looking for working with the most passionate people. Thanks, Tatiana, for supporting Energy from Women, we are sure that your work will cross borders to make Colombian women more visible. Women are joining their power”.

Energy from Women, ¡la energía de las mujeres!
